Domenicali ready to discuss keeping Silverstone ’forever’
"There is no other place in the UK"
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali says he is already willing to discuss extending Silverstone’s future on the calendar beyond its existing long-term contract.
Silverstone signed a new 10-year agreement in 2024, securing the British GP until 2034.
But speaking to the Daily Mail, Domenicali suggested the venue’s place in Formula 1 could stretch even further. "I am ready to discuss that," he said when asked about a deal to keep Silverstone "forever".
"It is just a matter of sitting down and finding the right conditions. Silverstone deserves to be on the calendar.
"It is forever."
Domenicali said no other British circuit could currently host Formula 1.
"There is no other place in the UK, not Brands Hatch, not Donington, that has the necessary capacity for Formula 1. We are too big."
This weekend’s British GP is expected to attract a record 565,000 spectators across four days, including 175,000 on race day alone.
"They are doing a good job on minimising any problems on the logistic side with so many people coming - a good problem to have," Domenicali said.
"They cannot sit back on their heritage but in the last few years they have grasped the need to provide the best product they can for the fans.
"It is one of the most fantastic places to see the passion of motorsport.
"You get goosebumps, no matter what passport you have."
