Stéphane Sarrazin rejoins the Team ORECA-Matmut
The Works Peugeot driver will team up with Lapierre and Panis
After running the fourth Peugeot 908 HDi FAP in the Le Mans 24 Hours alongside the three works cars, the Team ORECA-Matmut will enter the French prototype in the next three rounds of the Le Mans Series: Portimao, Budapest, and Silverstone. Stéphane Sarrazin will be at the wheel of no.4 for the three events. As in the Le Castellet 8 Hours, when he came to lend the team a hand, the Peugeot Sport works driver will share the car with Nicolas Lapierre and Olivier Panis in the Portuguese round.
“The Le Mans 24 Hours enabled us to reinforce the links between Peugeot Sport and the Team ORECA-Matmut,” explains Hugues de Chaunac. “Stéphane is joining us for the next three races as part of our close-knit collaboration. He’s an obvious choice as apart from his qualities as a driver, he’s already perfectly integrated into the team. He drove for us in 2001 and 2002, and more recently in the first round of the season on the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit. He knows Nicolas and Olivier well and I’m obviously delighted to be able to count on such a trio.”
Sarrazin has bagged a couple of second places in the Le Mans 24 Hours. He also set pole three times on the trot for the Sarthe endurance classic in 2007, 2008 and 2009. He is continuing his season in the Le Mans Series in which he has scored five victories as well as winning the title in 2007. With a driver line-up consisting of Nicolas Lapierre, Olivier Panis and
Stéphane Sarrazin, the Team ORECA-Matmut has only a single objective in Portimao – victory with the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP!
