Silverstone, Qualifying: Pagenaud bags pole for Peugeot

Simon Pagenaud set pole for the Autosport 6 Hours of Silverstone in 1m 43.924s. It was the Frenchman’s first time out on the English circuit in the no.7 Peugeot 908 he shares with Sébastien Bourdais. In fact, he was called in at the last minute to replace the injured Anthony Davidson who was unable to drive in front of his home public.

Pagenaud had a short, sharp battle with Stéphane Sarrazin (no. 8 Peugeot 908, 1m 45.102s) and Allan McNish (no. 2 Audi R18 TDI, 1m 44.856s) before clinching pole for the Autosport 6 Hours of Silverstone.

In LM P2, Danny Watts (Strakka Racing) took pole in 1m 49.619s after Jody Firth (TDS Racing) and Tom Kimber-Smith (Greaves Motorsport) set the early pace. In Formula Le Mans, Phil Keen (Neil Garner Motorsport) was quickest with a lap in 1m 58.143s.

LM GTE: Farfus and Armindo on pole

Ferrari did not have a great qualifying session as BMW was quickest in LM GTE Pro and Porsche in LM GTE Am thanks to Augusto Farfus and Nicolas Armindo respectively.

In GTE Pro, pole changed hands on several occasions. Wolf Henzler (Imsa Performance Matmut Porsche 997), Fred Makowiecki (Luxury Racing Ferrari F458 Italia), Marc Lieb (Felbermayr-Proton team Porsche 997) and Toni Vilander (AF Corse Ferrari F458 GTC) took it in turns to top the time sheets, until Augusto Farfus (no. 5 BMW Motorsport M3) put the issue beyond doubt with a time of 2m 01.786S followed by team-mate Andy Priaulx in 2m 02.066s giving the Munich manufacturer a double.

In LM GTE Am, only Patrick Long (Proton Competition Porsche 997) was able to match the pace of Nicolas Armindo (Imsa Performance Matmut Porsche 997) who took pole in 2m 04.028s.
