Solberg holds on to third at the end of day two
He will push tomorrow
Petter Solberg was third overall when he left Coffs Harbour’s parc fermé this morning and was still in the same position tonight, after completing today’s ten stages.
The Norwegian was not completely satisfied with his pace in the morning but made changes on his car during the midday’s service and came back stronger in the afternoon. He mixed it with the Ford drivers but couldn’t trim their advantage at the front of the rally.
He is now 59 seconds behind the lead, held by Jari-Matti Latvala, and 36 seconds behind 2nd-placed Mikko Hirvonen. He will keep pushing on Sunday’s leg.
“It’s been a very good day”, he said. “I was a bit disappointed this morning, but this afternoon made up for that. Didn’t really get to find the balance at first, but it got a lot better this afternoon. It feels good to have the same speed as the others, and knowing that I’m able to keep up with them. It’s a long day to go tomorrow, and I will push as much as possible!”
