Tiago Monteiro aiming for another podium in Hungary
"Expectations are high among all team members"
Tiago Monteiro is preparing to take part in round three of the 2014 FIA World Touring Car Championship, WTCC, this coming weekend at the Hungaroring in Budapest. The Portuguese driver is hoping that this circuit with its unique characteristics will allow him to continue the evolution of the Honda Civic and to score more points in both the drivers and team championships. Tiago is also hoping to regain his place among the leaders as he did at Paul Ricard two weeks ago when he secured his first podium of the season.
Since the French race, the JAS Motorsport Honda team has focused their attention on the development of the Honda Civic. "Two weeks of work, that’s fine, but it’s still very short,"explains Tiago. "The team has made some changes to the Civic, which we believe should enable us to reduce the gap that separates us from our rivals. But it will still be a complicated round because our rivals have tested on this circuit over the winter and they know it well."
Tiago will therefore address the Hungarian weekend with determination and clarity. "Finish the races in the points and the development of the car are our two main priorities," continued the Portuguese driver. "If we succeed, we should not be too far from the podium and this would be the ideal scenario. Expectations are high among all team members, and the desire to progress is permanent."
