There have already been several upsets since the start of the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 kms, dominated by Peugeot at the halfway mark.

The French cars have kept up their pace after their fighting comeback at the start of the race. The no. 7 908 in the hands of Wurz-Gené-Davidson is in the lead followed by its two sister cars, nos 9 and 8. At 16h35, the neutralization of the race after an accident played into Peugeot’s hands and the 908s consolidated their stranglehold. Stéphane Sarrazin expressed their domination by setting the fastest lap in 2m 04.803s. Audi has lost ground to the French manufacturer. Dindo Capello in the no. 3 R18 TDI is now over 1m 30s behind the leader. Behind the six diesel prototypes, Julien Jousse leads the petrol-engined brigade in the no. 16 Pescarolo-Judd.

In LM P2, the Orecas continue their domination. TDS Racing now leads from Boutsen Energy Racing and Race Performance. The third hour of the race was marked by Christophe Bouchut’s (Level 5 Motorsport) spectacular accident. This led to the neutralization of the race for 5 laps. The doctors were called to the scene of the accident but the driver is okay.

In the Formula Le Mans Category Luca Moro (Hope Racing) is still in first place with a comfortable lead over Pegasus Racing. These are the only 2 cars in the running for victory in the category.

In LM GTE Pro, Toni Vilander AF Corse led for the whole of the third hour before making his third refuelling stop handing over to Giancarlo Fisichella.

Nicolas Armindo, who is driving like a bat out of hell, has pulled back most of the time lost at the start of the race. The pole setter in the category has retaken the lead in LM GTE Am lapping in the times of the quickest GTE Pro drivers before handing over to Raymond Narac.
