Sharp Bennani ready to build WTCC Trophy lead
He has his eyes on the prize
Mehdi Bennani has his eyes firmly on the prize ahead of FIA WTCC Race of Argentina this weekend.
The Moroccan tops the WTCC Trophy standings by 27 points ahead of Sébastien Loeb Racing team-mate Tom Chilton.
He plans to build that advantage when Termas de Río Hondo hosts rounds 15 and 16 of the FIA World Touring Car Championship season.
“Scoring will be the most important thing to ensure,” said Bennani, who bagged an outright win in Hungary earlier this season. “You have to remain constantly focused and it will be our job to find that little extra which will enable us to perform better than our rivals. I’ve been feeling well since the last round in Portugal, I’ve been able to rest while also staying sharp physically, ready for Argentina. I’m in good shape to strengthen my position and still aim higher.”
