Monteiro on “top form” for WTCC Race of Argentina
The Honda driver wants to win
Tiago Monteiro’s sensational home win in the FIA World Touring Car Championship in Portugal earlier this summer has handed the factory Honda star a huge boost for the remaining rounds of this year’s WTCC, starting with the Termas de Río Hondo double-header in Argentina this weekend.
Monteiro converted his DHL Pole Position into a second victory of 2016 to reclaim second place in the WTCC Drivers’ standings, much to the delight of the thousands of fans who cheered his every move in Vila Real in late June.
“I won the last race in Portugal, which was a fantastic feeling, and it’s allowed me to go into the summer break feeling on top form and ready for the rest of the season,” said Monteiro. “I finished third in Argentina last year and the aim has to be to improve on that result this weekend. I’m currently second in the championship, but with seven other drivers really close to me, so a strong weekend is critical.”
