No point looking back, says WTCC’s Tarquini
"This was not really a good weekend for me"
Gabriele Tarquini’s focus is firmly on FIA WTCC Race of Argentina following an off-song weekend in Portugal.
A winner in Russia earlier in the month, Tarquini was unable to make an impact in his LADA Sport Rosneft-run Vesta.
He qualified P17 in Vila Real and was outside the top 10 in both the Opening Race and Main Race.
“This was not really a good weekend for me,” said the 2009 WTCC champion. “I had some small issues of one kind or another that we have not sorted fully, and this meant I missed some running. In general, I think it’s a combination of factors – heavy weight, hot conditions and lack of experience exactly on this track.
“I was chasing the car the whole weekend and never really found a solution to issues we had. It’s time to look ahead to the next round in Argentina where hopefully things will be better.”
