Huff: Björk WTCC pass could prove vital
"I was pressuring him the whole race"
Rob Huff believes his passing move on Thed Björk in the Opening Race at FIA WTCC Race of Portugal last Sunday could have a major impact on his final championship position.
Huff, the 2012 WTCC champion, overtook Björk in the closing stages of the first counter through the streets of Vila Real, climbing from seventh to sixth and earning two additional championship points in the process.
With 18 points separating seventh-placed Huff and his Honda team-mate Monteiro, who is second in the table, Huff is chasing as many points as he can muster.
“I was pressuring him the whole race hoping to force a mistake,” said Huff. “On the final lap the pressure told and I made the pass for P6 and extra points which could prove very important in a tight championship.”
