How total WTCC teamwork got home hero Michelisz back on track
"It was tight I have to say"
Norbert Michelisz has revealed how total teamwork got him back on track in the FIA World Touring Car Championship in his native Hungary last weekend.
Michelisz was prevented from starting the Opening Race at the Hungaroring due to a turbo failure on his Honda Civic WTCC (pictured).
However, his car was ready in time for the Main Race after the mechanics of team-mates Rob Huff and Tiago Monteiro gave a helping hand.
“It was tight I have to say but the mechanics from Tiago and from Rob as well were working on my car so I knew the guys would fix the problem,” Michelisz explained.
To ensure the new turbo could be fitted on schedule, Honda Racing Team JAS, which runs Michelisz in the WTCC, obtained special permission to work on the car outside of the 15-minute OSCARO Repair Time period, which resulted in Michelisz starting from the back of the grid as a consequence under the championship regulations.
