H+2 : The no. 7 Peugeot increases its lead

During the second hour of the race, the no. 7 Peugeot 908 increased its lead. Alex Wurz pulled out a few seconds lead lap after lap in his second stint. After 1h30m, he had 11 seconds in hand over Andre Lotterer in the no. 2 Audi R18 TDI with Allan McNish in no. 3, a further 18 seconds back.

The no. 1 Audi came in for a rear bonnet change and rejoined with Romain Dumas at the wheel.

With 2 hours gone, Anthony Davidson in the no. 7 908 was still in the lead of the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 kms in front of the nos 2 (Treluyer) and 3 (Capello) Audis and the nos 9 (Lamy) and 8 (Sarrazin) Peugeots. The fourth Peugeot, the Oreca team’s 908 HDi FAP, lost 15 minutes at its pit as the fuel pump had to be replaced. It was back in again at the end of the second hour.

Julkein Jousse took the lead of the petrol-engined cars in the no. 16 Pescarolo-Judd from the Quilfel ASM Team’s Zytek 09SC of Olivier Pla and the no. 13 Rebellion Racing Lola-Toyota driven by Jean-Christophe Boullion.

In LM P2, the second hour of the race saw the Oreca 03-Nissans fill the first three places. Belgian driver, Nicolas de Crem took the lead in the Boutsen Energy Racing entry from Ayari in the Signatech-Nissan 03 and Jody Firth (TDS Racing). De Crem then handed over to Dominik Kraihamer who went back out in fourth place giving the lead to Ayari.

In LM GTE Pro, Toni Vilander took over from Jaime Melo, and James Walker relayed Rob Bell. The battle between the AF Corse and the JMW Motorsport Ferrari F458 Italias raged in the category and only 3 seconds separated Vilander and Walker after 2 hours.

Phil Quaife in the no. 82 CRS Racing Ferrari F430 GT went into first place in LM GTE Am from 3 Porsche 997 GT3 RSRs driven by Bryce Miller, Nick Hommerson and Raymond Narac.

Nicolas Marroc continued his stirring drive in Formula Le Mans. He was then relayed by Luca Moro as the Hope Racing FLM09-Oreca retained the lead in the category.
