Exciting races expected in Austria
The title fight is far from over
Six different drivers and four different manufacturers have already emerged as victorious in the eight WTCC races held so far.
Yvan Muller has been the only one capable of winning more than once, collecting three victories at the wheel of his RML Chevrolet Cruze. These wins and his consistency enabled the Alsatian to build a solid margin of 46 points over Gabriele Tarquini in the Drivers’ Championship.
However, with two thirds of the season ahead, the title fight is far from over and as the WTCC comes to Austria, a number of other drivers are well determined to close the gap from Muller. Beginning from Tarquini and his Castrol Honda Racing team-mate Tiago Monteiro. The Italian wants to forget the dramatic crash he had in Budapest’s second race, while Monteiro needs to escape the spiral of misfortune that dogs him from the beginning of the season.
After claiming in Hungary his first WTCC victory in a SEAT car and for his new team ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport, reigning champion Rob Huff is now ready to defend his title. The Salzburgring may further re-launch his ambitions.
Following some brilliant results in the previous races, a bunch of young drivers are looking forward to score their maiden race win: Norbert Michelisz, James Nash, Alex MacDowall, Mehdi Bennani, while James Thompson hopes that his LADA Granta car will move another step forward.
