Citroën is very close to getting crowned

Just six points separate the Citroën Total team from their first WTCC title.

The WTCC Race of China-Beijing may have been the first one this season where the French manufacturer did not clinch at least one win, nonetheless Citroën moved a big step forward in both the Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ championships.

The 270-point margin on Honda in the standings of the Manufacturers’ Championship means that Citroën is now only 6 points away from being crowned. A target that could be reached this weekend at Shanghai.

In the Drivers’ Championship, one thing is also sure since last Sunday. The title cannot elude one of the three regular Citroën drivers, as the current fourth-classified, Tiago Monteiro (146 points) cannot reach the current leader, José María López, who has 339 points, with 165 being the maximum of points a driver could score in the six remaining rounds.

This doesn’t mean at all that the games are done, as the fight “en famille” between the three C-Elysée boys, Juan María López (339 points), Yvan Muller (273) and Sébastien Loeb (238) is going to be more than exciting.
