Chevrolet cars for Münnich and Morbidelli
The German outfit joined the championship last year
The ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport keeps on racing in WTCC with two Chevrolet Cruze cars for team principal René Münnich and former F1 driver Gianni Morbidelli.
The German outfit joined the championship last year with three SEAT León vehicles, claiming two race victories with Rob Huff at Budapest and Macau.
For the new season the team purchased two RML-built Chevrolet Cruze TC1 cars. “I received a last minute offer to buy them, and could not drop the opportunity. We are eager to benefit from the experience we won last year and are very much looking forward to the new season,” Münnich explained.
With Morbidelli, the Münnich Motorsport adds the skill of an experienced and successful international racer. The 46-year old Italian returns to WTCC eight years after his 2006 season with Alfa Romeo. “I am really excited by the idea of rejoining WTCC and working together with René Münnich and his team. They did a great job last year on their maiden season,” he said.
Münnich looks at the new season with confidence: “For me it is only the second year in WTCC and circuit racing. Last year everything was new to me, not only the tracks, but the art of driving as well. I hope I will be able to handle the Chevrolet quite well. I think top-ten results should be my goal this season.”
