Brake woes continue to slow Çetinkaya

Burcu Çetinkaya’s pursuit of a points’ finish on the FxPro Cyprus Rally continues to suffer after the brake problems that hampered her Peugeot Sport Turkey 207 Super 2000 on the opening loop of stages struck again on stage five.

The 29-year-old from Istanbul, who became the first female driver to score Intercontinental Rally Challenge points when she finished seventh on RACMSA Rally of Scotland last month, is languishing in 18th overall, more than eight minutes off the lead.

Daniel Oliveira, at the wheel of Stohl Racing-run 207, was slowed on Friday morning by an electrical glitch, which caused his car’s fuel pump to fail intermittently. However, he has now fought back up to eighth overall heading to stage six.
