Bouffier rapid in Cyprus
Fastest on SS5
Bryan Bouffier’s hopes of winning the FxPro Cyprus Rally might be over following his stage two dramas but it hasn’t dampened the Frenchman’s enthusiasm on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier after he set the fastest time on stage five, the repeat of the 10.42-kilometre Kalavasos test where he hit trouble this morning.
Bouffier was 4.5 seconds faster than Martin Prokop through the mixed-surface test in his ROMO Motorsporttechnik-run Peugeot 207, which underwent repairs during midday service.
Nasser Al-Attiyah continues to lead in his M-Sport Ford Fiesta although his advantage over Prokop, in another Fiesta, has been narrowed slightly to 17.2s.
Franz Wittmann is reported to have stopped in the stage in his Interwetten Racing Peugeot.
