Bennani outlines WTCC title ambitions
"I hope to be the first Arab to clinch a world title"
Mehdi Bennani won’t lift his foot off the gas until he wins the FIA World Touring Car Championship.
Bennani is gearing up for a second season of WTCC action as a Sébastien Loeb Racing driver when he’s expected to be a regular contender for podium finishes in his Citroën C-Elysée.
After re-signing for the French squad for 2016, the Moroccan acknowledged the support of his country’s monarch and underlined his lofty ambitions.
“To be supported in such a way by the Moroccan people and His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is both a huge honour and a great responsibility,” said Bennani. “I was the first driver from an Arab country to ever compete in WTCC. I hope to be the first one to clinch a world title in the discipline. Anyway, that’s the goal we’re working towards.”
