Barth’s car cannot be repaired
The German vehicle was massively damaged yesterday
The Wiechers-Sport team is due to withdraw Fredy Barth’s BMW 320 TC car from the Macau meeting.
The German vehicle was massively damaged yesterday during the qualifying session, when Barth hit the wall at high speed at the Solitude Esses. The same place where Tom Chilton had crashed earlier during the second free practice and where Barth himself had had a serious accident in 2011.
Team manager Dominik Greiner said that the front right end of the car suffered from extensive damage that cannot be repaired at the track.
Before the incident Barth had set the 16th fastest lap.
