Zengő up to full strength soon in the WTCC
Late confirmation of its programme for 2016
Zengő Motorsport will be back on track in the FIA World Touring Car Championship in Slovakia before both of the team’s Honda Civic WTCCs are expected to challenge for success at the subsequent event in Hungary, its home meeting.
Late confirmation of its programme for 2016 meant it was not possible to secure a supply of engines for WTCC JVCKENWOOD Race of France. While Ferenc Ficza was able to take part in Saturday’s running after Honda Racing Team JAS loaned its spare engine for the 19-year-old to use in Free Practice 1, 2 and Qualifying only, team-mate Dániel Nagy, 17, has reverted to the role of interested spectator with Ferenc also watching Sunday’s races from the sideline.
After guiding Norbert Michelisz from video game racer to factory WTCC star, Zengő is giving Ferenc and Nagy a dream opportunity to follow in Michelisz’s wheel tracks by entering them in the 2016 WTCC. The team, which has four WTCC victories to its name, is also competing in the FIA European Touring Car Cup, running a SEAT for Norbert Nagy.
WTCC Race of Slovakia takes place from 15-17 April with WTCC Race of Hungary following from 22-24 April.
