WTCC Zolder - Qualifying : They said...
Quotes from the drivers
Rob HUFF – pole position: “I was pretty surprised by my lap time, because I made a small mistake in the middle sector during my first lap, but the team had done a pretty good job in setting up the car. It would be nice if I could convert this pole in a victory like in Curitiba. For sure qualifying has become massively important and that was exactly my plan for today, being fastest in qualifying to pave the way for winning Race 1 tomorrow.”
Alain MENU – 2nd fastest: “I was not really happy with my car today, as I had massive vibrations on the braking. Therefore I was a little bit surprised that I managed to qualify in second position, especially because I did not take any risk trying to go faster. In the end this result was much better than the one I had in Brazil, which makes me very confident for the first race.”
Gabriele TARQUINI – 3rd fastest: “I am really happy for the job we have done. I pushed to the limit on my last lap and considering that the potential we have is far behind Chevrolet’s qualifying in third position, ahead of Yvan Muller is something I did not expect. On my best lap I benefited from aspiration from Muller’s car before he made a small mistake.”
Kristian POULSEN – 6th fastest, best of Yokohama Trophy: “It was a very good result for me and the team, though we could have even achieved to do better if I had not spun on my second fast lap in Q2. For tomorrow I expect a couple of tough races as the pace of my competitors is very close to mine.”
