WTCC Porto - Qualifying : They said...

Alain MENU – pole position: “I did not expect such a fast lap time, I rather expected the pole position to be in the low 2:05. But my Q2 lap was a perfect one and I did not make the slightest mistake. To be on pole position is important, because it is not easy to overtake here.”

Yvan MULLER – 2nd fastest: “I am pleased with today’s results that gave me a front row starting position for both races. During Q2 I made a little mistake at the chicane on my second lap; I could have improved, but I don’t think it would have been enough to beat Alain’s impressive time.”

Rob HUFF – 3rd fastest: “I’m a little bit disappointed for my Q2 result. I had a big flight over the kerbs on my first attempt and lost quite a lot of time. However being third on the grid of both races is good enough and I’ll try to score some good points for the championship.”

Norbert MICHELISZ – 8th fastest, best of Yokohama Trophy: “I expected more from today’s qualifying, especially because I like street circuits. But today my car was not at its best and being half-a-second slower than Coronel’s BMW is not a good feeling.”
