Tim Coronel replaces Romanov in Brands Hatch
Romanov could not make it because of personal problems
Dutch driver Tim Coronel, twin brother of WTCC regular Tom Coronel, will replace Andrei Romanov at Liqui Moly Team Engstler for this weekend’s races at Brands Hatch.
“Romanov could not make it because of personal problems,” team manager Kurt Treml explained. “We were given the information at the last minute and had to find a solution. Luckily Tim was here for racing in the SEAT Eurocup. We know him since long time, as he has raced for us sometimes in the past and we were talking to bring him to the WTCC.”
Coronel, who recently won one of the SEAT Eurocup races in Zolder, will take the wheel of the team’s second BMW car alongside Franz Engstler’s. His car will be fitted with a six-speed sequential gearbox.
Tim Coronel made his maiden WTCC appearance last year at Brno in a SUNRED SEAT León car; his best result was 12th in the first race.
