Tiago Monteiro confident for the Russian round of the WTCC
"Getting back on the podium on this track is a realistic goal"
The WTCC caravan will be in Moscow Russia this coming weekend, June 6 and 7 for the fifth round of the 2015 season. With the Honda Civic’s settings made to suit the Russian track, Tiago Monteiro is confident of a good result. The Portuguese driver currently holds fourth place in the championship and the goal is now to consolidate his position on the championship table and to be Citroen’s main rival.
The recent changes made to the Honda Civic for the Russian round can bear fruit as Tiago explains: "It is more a technical track than a quick one and this is advantageous for us. It is a completely different type of track than those we have been racing on since the start of the season and it doesn’t have a very abrasive surface. Last year we had two good races at this track so we believe we can do even better."
With two podiums already this season and a total of 73 points, Tiago is confident he can maintain fourth place in the Championship and his aim is to open the gap to his opponents: "Getting close to the winners is very complicated so we must be the best of the rest and the best of the Honda family. Getting back on the podium on this track is a realistic goal for me," he said.
