The thirst for success is still here for Lopez
He wants to break a last record
José María López might have made it a trio of FIA World Touring Car Championship titles in Japan earlier this month but the ace Argentine isn’t done with winning in the WTCC.
López, who will switch to the FIA Formula E Championship for the 2016/17 season, is determined to end his WTCC tenure on a high note and remains on course to equal – or even better – his record of 10 wins in one season.
Speaking ahead of this week’s WTCC Race of China, the factory Citroën driver said: “Even though I achieved my goal in Motegi, I still have plenty of motivation for the end of the season. First of all, we have to secure the Manufacturers’ title. Next, I’ll be doing all I can to help Yvan [Muller] get the runner-up spot, which is very important for the team. Finally, I would like to close this chapter of my career on a positive note. I want to enjoy the last meetings as much as I can. I won pole positions and races [in Shanghai] in 2014 and 2015, so I hope to do the same this year.”
