Testcar boosts Polestar Cyan Racing
The first tests since the beginning of the season
Polestar Cyan Racing’s test car is up and running as the Swedish squad prepares for an expanded development push for the 2017 FIA World Touring Car Championship and beyond.
Factory drivers Thed Björk and Robert Dahlgren completed the first test with the newly-completed Volvo S60 Polestar TC1 at Mantorp Park in Sweden last week with further tests scheduled during the upcoming months in parallel with Polestar’s WTCC campaign.
“This is a crucial part in our plan for moving forward ahead of 2017,” said Christian Dahl, CEO of Cyan Racing. “The race cars have not been in Sweden since the first race in April, meaning that no development work has been possible. The test car changes that and we look forward to work further with the new data from the coming tests.”
Polestar Cyan Racing is undertaking a long-term WTCC campaign. Its targeting race wins in 2017 and the prestigious FIA world title the following year.
“The results so far this year are better than we expected with several top five and top 10 finishes, a receipt on that we have a strong base car in the Volvo S60 Polestar TC1 and a solid preparation work by the team,” said Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Head of Motorsport at Polestar. “The test programme alongside the race weekends is the next step in our plan, providing us with the right conditions to take the next step forward in terms of pace and results next season.”
