Tarquini and Seat part after seven years
He won the 2009 drivers championship
The races in Macau will mark the end of Gabriele Tarquini’s time with SEAT Sport. A time that lasted for seven years in WTCC and produced 15 race victories and other 33 podium results, 13 pole positions, 12 fastest laps and the 2009 Drivers’ Championship.
To celebrate the event, Tarquini wears a new helmet, especially realized by Kaos Design.
“It has been a good time,” the Italian racer said. “The longest I had with a Manufacturer. I have great memories, especially from the first years, such as the advent of the diesel engine, the victories, the world title. But also in the latest season we have managed to get some satisfaction. I am the driver with the longest and most successful record with SEAT in WTCC. I am proud of this and I must thank them for choosing me at the beginning. And they have to thank me for staying with them in the latest years, even when they stopped the factory programme. Speaking about human relationships, these were fantastic years, because there is a special feeling between Spanish and Italian people… I felt like in a family.”
