Tänak uncertain of 2016 plans

Having completed his final rally with M-Sport at last weekend’s Wales Rally GB, Ott Tänak admits he doesn’t know if he has done enough to secure a another season with the squad in 2016.

The Estonian re-joined M-Sport this year after a two year absence, completing a two-car team with Elfyn Evans. Both drivers secured four top-5 finishes during the season, with Tänak’s highlight the third place he claimed in Poland.

He was on course to round off the season with fourth place in Wales, but retired on the final day when he hit a rock and broke his rear suspension.

"I don’t know about what will happen in 2016 and I don’t know whether I have done enough this year," Tänak told wrc.com.

"Personally I think it’s been a very good learning season. I’ve shown some very promising speed since Portugal and have always been more or less after the Volkswagens on every gravel event.

"On gravel we’ve been competitive and last time on Tarmac in Spain we were doing some good speed too - so it’s definitely been going in the right direction. Okay, the learning curve has been difficult in places but that’s always what you get in a first season."

Team boss Malcolm Wilson has not yet decided on his drivers for next year but confirmed he was considering Tänak, Evans and "a few others."
