Sunred’s new engine tested on the bench
"The first results are very good"
SUNRED Engineering’s new 1.6-litre turbo engine is due to be used for the first time in the next WTCC event at Budapest.
The engine, designed and developed by the Spanish factory in cooperation with the Lehmann Motorentechnik AG, is currently undergoing an extensive programme of bench tests.
“The first results of the tests are very good in terms of both, power and reliability and our plan is to test it for the first time in the car next week,” unveiled SUNRED’s principal Joan Orús. “In the meantime we are working to accomplish all the homologation formalities. Should everything is properly accomplished, we hope to start using the engine from the next event in Hungary.”
