Route to: Salzburgring, Austria
Only brave and wily drivers can win races at the Salzburgring
Rounds 11 and 12 of the 2013 FIA World Touring Car Championship take place next week in Austria, at the Salzburgring on May 19.
This is the series’ second visit to this super fast and old-fashioned circuit that is located 15 km East of the beautiful city of Salzburg and offers a breathtaking set up, lying at the bottom of an Alpine valley and surrounded by high mountains.
Only brave and wily drivers can win races at the Salzburgring.
Last year, the combination between hot temperatures and the racetrack’s long straights and high speed corners claimed an expensive toll to the front wheel-drive cars. A number of drivers had tyres problems, including the Chevrolet trio of Alain Menu, Yvan Muller and Rob Huff who had dominated the first race. In a dramatic second race they all dropped out in sequence, handing victory to an astonished Stefano D’Aste.
However, the Salzburgring is also famous for its unpredictable weather that will add more spice to an already exciting weekend.
