The FIA World Touring Car Championship will undergo significant evolution in terms of technical and sporting regulations from the 2014 season.

Here is a summary of the main topics that will feature in the final version of the technical regulations that will be submitted for approval to the World Motor Sport Council.

How much will the power increase? Up to approximately 380 bhp

Will the suspensions be different? Yes, all cars may adopt McPherson strut (front and rear)

Will a flat floor be allowed? It will be compulsory

Will the wheels be bigger? Yes, from 17” to 18”

Will the cars be lighter? Yes, by 50 kilograms; the minimum weight will be 1150 kg

Will the cars be lower? Yes, ground clearance will be reduced from 80 to 60 millimetres

Will these changes result in faster cars? Yes, by about 1.5 second per kilometre

Will a push-to-pass system be adopted? It is possible, but not before 2015
