Positive WTCC comeback for Nykjaer

Michel Nykjær’s comeback to WTCC turned into an extremely positive weekend for the Danish driver who is currently committed to take part in the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup for Chevrolet Motorsport Sweden.

Called by bamboo-engineering to replace Pasquale Di Sabatino, Nykjær ranked among the top six from the beginning. He qualified a brilliant fourth overall, best of the Yokohama Trophy and then finished both races in fifth and sixth position, claiming one first and one second in the Yokohama Trophy.

“It was a very positive weekend, especially considering that I did not know team. I think that with a short test before the event I could have done even better,” said Nykjær who was classified second in the 2011 Yokohama Trophy.

“I don’t know if it’s possible for me to take part in some other WTCC event this year. However my goal is to join the championship again next year.”
