Polestar head ready to fight for WTCC glory
"We’ll go into race mode and fight for wins and podiums"
Polestar’s Head of Motorsport, Alexander Murdzevski, reckons it won’t be long until his team’s brace of Volvo S60s are challenging for the top in the FIA World Touring Car Championship – and he expects a fight for on-track success.
Volvo’s performance brand is embarking on a major WTCC assault from this season with Thed Björk and Fredrik Ekblom in action for the Swedish make.
Speaking at the WTCC Media Launch in Vallelunga, Italy, last week, Murdzevski said: “It’s a tremendous challenge so we have to be very realistic about it. But when we get to Paul Ricard we’ll go into race mode and fight for wins and podiums with every essence of energy you have.
“The first year will be a learning year first and foremost but I don’t think we won’t be quick and I think we’ll pick up speed fairly quickly. We’ve done touring cars for 30 years consecutively so I think this is really down our alley regardless.”
