Oschersleben is next on Tiago Monteiro

The FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) is making a stop at Germany’s Oschersleben circuit, before its traditional summer break in which the competition takes the entire month of August off. Tiago Monteiro hopes to take advantage of his SEAT Leon’s 1.6 liter turbo engine to get two good results in the season’s 15th and 16th races.

The Oschersleben weekend will also be a chance for the Portuguese driver to finally move past Donington, where he fell victim to a competitor’s carelessness. "Donington was not a very positive weekend in terms of raw results, but it was very satisfactoryA top 10 finish for Cecotto is a bright spot in an otherwise gray weeke in terms of intrinsic performance. The Sun-Red crew worked relentlessly to develop the new engine and I hope that the upcoming races will be better than what we sometimes had in store for us in the past," declared the #18 car driver.

Although the Chevrolets are still tough to beat, other constructors, like BMW are rivals of considerable merit. "We all want great success and the qualifying session will have an overwhelming role in the race results," Tiago explained. "I can’t wait to take part in the first free practice session in order to be able to evaluate our competitiveness, and that of our rivals as well."

At Oschersleben, Tiago’s objective will be to make up for lost time in the general classification since his double disappointment in Donington, where he lost his 4th place standing.
