Oriola re-joins Campos for Asian races
"I did not want to leave WTCC"
Pepe Oriola will return to the WTCC for the three Asian events at Shanghai, Suzuka and Macau.
The young Spaniard who had claimed his first WTCC victory last year at Marrakech, will be competing in the TC2T class at the wheel of one of the team’s SEAT León cars.
While waiting for racing in the last three events of the upcoming season, Oriola will also cooperate with Campos Racing as a tutor for the team’s drivers who will be competing in the FIA European Touring Car Cup: Igor Skuz from Ukraine and Nikolay Karamyshev from Russia.
He has already played this role, coaching Campos Racing’s WTCC driver John Filippi during the team’s latest test at Valencia and Spa-Francorchamps.
“Despite I had many offers on my desk, I did not want to leave WTCC. With Campos racing I have the opportunity to remain active in the championship, bringing my experience to the team and its drivers,” Oriola said.
