Ogier: Eight kilometres to the limit
Volkswagen star closes in on sensational top-five finish
Sebastien Ogier insists he will push to the limit on the Rally Italia Sardegna-closing Power Stage.
The Volkswagen Motorsport ace is on course for a sensational fifth place on the FIA World Rally Championship counter in his Super 2000-specification Skoda Fabia providing he can continue to outpace Chris Atkinson’s faster MINI John Cooper Works World Rally Car.
With 5.3s between them starting the final 8.24-kilometre Gallura test, Ogier is taking no chances: “I’m pushing hard, not taking crazy risks but I’m on the limit and have another eight kilometres on the limit to conserve this place.
“I’m happy to have a bigger gap now to Chris but it’s not over and I have to keep pushing. A point on the Power Stage is not the goal, the target is fifth place, which would be an amazing result for all the team.”
The Power Stage goes live at 11:00hrs local time.
