The ROAL Motorsport team will spend the night trying to repair Darryl O’Young’s car after the crash occurred during today’s qualifying session.
Technical director Pietro Speronello explained: “The car suffered from extensive damage at the back. We have to check how much the roll cage and shells have been twisted. But of course we will try to repair it in time for tomorrow’s races.”
Commenting his incident, O’Young said: “I was pushing on that lap and had just taken fifth gear. I had a little oversteer and got onto the grass; there was nothing I could do to catch the car and I was into the wall at about 160 kph.”
Following the medical checks at the track, the doctors cleared O’Young for the races
