O’Young claims double podium at Singapore
in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia series
WTCC regular Darryl O’Young made a brilliant comeback to the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia series that he had won twice in previous years. On Singapore’s Marina Bay Circuit the Hong Kong driver clinched second on Saturday and third on Sunday during the supporting races of the Formula One Grand Prix.
In the first race O’Young started third and had a race long battle with Craig Baird which kept the spectators on the edge of their seat for the 12 laps. Eventually he finished second, 0.347s behind Baird, with Marchy Lee claiming a distant third.
O’Young started Race 2 from the front row of the grid and put pressure on Baird on the opening two laps but then struggled with tire grip and fell down to third beihind Lee.
“My aim was to win of course, but two podiums are good results after being absent in the championship for the last rounds,” O’Young said.
