Muller happy with Rallye de France result
"I couldn’t hope for any better"
Yvan Muller is happy after the MINI John Cooper Worlks car he shared with co-driver Guy Leneveau was classified in 14th position overall in the WRC Rallye de France Alsace.
“I am absolutely satisfied with this result. Taking into account the fact that I only compete in one rally per year, that this rally is very tough and that we had to cope with bad weather conditions, I couldn’t hope for any better,” he said on Sunday evening.
Muller admitted that he had a cautious approach and aimed for increasing his pace, special stage after special stage.
“My plan was partly spoiled by the rain we had on the second and third day. It was very easy to make mistakes and have an incident. A lot of other drivers did it. However I was happy to see that I was faster and faster.”
During the final day, Muller managed to make the top-five in a couple of special stages.
“It was great! But then I made a spin and decided it was not worth taking risks. There were only a couple of stages left, the guy in front was more than one minute ahead and I had a good margin over the one who was behind. So we just focused on cruising to the end.”
