Muller: A fourth title within reach
A solid leading margin of 132 points
Yvan Muller is quite close to secure a fourth World Touring Car Drivers’ Championship after the three he won in 2008, 2010 and 2011.
The Frenchman has been proving in a class of his own throughout the season so far, driving his Chevrolet Cruze car run by RML to six pole positions, six victories and five other podium finishes out of 16 races.
He has only failed to score in the latest race at Termas de Río Hondo, mainly due to a drive through penalty following a contact with Tiago Monteiro.
His impressive list of results enabled Muller to build up a solid leading margin of 132 points ahead of his closest competitor, Nika Racing’s Michel Nykjær.
This means that Muller might acquire the mathematical certainty of a fourth WTCC title after Sonoma’s second race.
