Monteiro will be trying out the SEAT León 1.6 liter engine at Brno

Tiago Monteiro will be driving the SEAT León 1.6 liter turbo engine for the first time in competition during the next two races of the World Touring Car Championship FIA WTCC to be held next weekend in Brno, Czech Republic.

On a circuit which is traditionally not very favorable to SEAT, Tiago hopes to bring home points in each race and continue developing the SEAT, driven by the 1.6 liter turbo engine. "I am motivated and happy to finally be able to get behind the wheel of the car driven by the new engine. It has a huge potential. The team has worked with it this week on the track and managed to make progress with it both in terms of performance and reliability. So we will take advantage of these two races in Brno to test it in competition," Tiago declared, "We know that this circuit is generally tough for SEAT and so our ambitions will be limited."

Less than a week after participating in the Le Mans 24 Hours, the circuit marathon runner has gotten over his fatigue and is totally focused on the WTCC, where he is in fifth place in the overall ranking. "Despite the difficulties encountered in the first races, the results pleasantly surprised us. We are going to continue working with the same diligence and determination in order to strengthen the competitiveness of SEAT and Sun-Red, as well as our positions in both championships," concluded the driver of the #18 car.
