Monteiro renews his contract with SEAT
The Portuguese driver will be driving the LEON in FIA WTCC
Tiago has been chosen by SEAT and SunRed for another year to defend the brand’s colours in the FIA’s World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). Tiago will team up with Gabriele Tarquini Michel Nykjaer, Fredy Barth, Alexander Dudukalo and Josep Oriola in the SunRed organization.
Since he has been racing in the championship, Tiago is one of the main protagonists, as his 4 wins, 12 podiums, 2 pole positions, and 4 fastest laps in race can show. Tiago hopes to further improve on these statistics in 2011. "I am happy that SEAT and our partners have put their trust on me and I am delighted to race one more year in a championship which is, by all means, one of the very best in the world," Tiago said. "2011 will be an extension of 2010, with the same technical structure and the same conditions. I want to profit from the experience I have acquired over the past few years and translate that into my best raw results."
Tiago will participate in his first FIA WTCC 2011 race on March 20 in Curitiba, Brazil. Despite a very busy WTCC racing schedule, Tiago hopes to be able to take part in other prestigious competitions as he has done in the past, particularly the 24 hours of Le Mans and V8 Supercars.
