Menu kisses the wall at Marrakech
"I tried to go too fast into the chicane"
Alain Menu’s test session ended early in Morocco this afternoon, after hitting the wall in the second chicane damaging the right rear end of his Chevrolet Cruze.
"Basically I messed up," said Menu. "I tried to go too fast into the chicane and the car started to oversteer. I couldn’t avoid hitting the wall but it was my mistake. I wasn’t sure what the damage was so I parked the car and they towed it back."
Commenting on the track conditions he continued: "It was very dusty out there today but that’s what we were all expecting and it will get better."
Despite the incident, Menu ended the day eighth on the Marrakesh street circuit posting a time of 1:50.421. The Chevrolet team are now working to fix the damage ready for tomorrow’s first practice at 09.00 local time.
Another driver crashed during today’s test session: Maurer Motorsport’s Youssaf El Marnissi, whose Chevrolet Lacetti was recovered by a flat truck after hitting the wall at a chicane.
