Lopez scores his first point in Formula E
Before ending his WTCC career
José María López has scored his first FIA Formula E Championship point with a run to P10 in Marrkech last weekend.
López, a winner at the Moroccan city’s revamped track when the FIA World Touring Car Championship visited for two wet weather races in May, is embarking on his first Formula E campaign as his next motorsport challenge after winning the WTCC title for three seasons in succession with the factory Citroën team.
With problems in practice hampering his qualifying preparations, López lined up P13 for Africa’s inaugural ePrix. Afterwards, the ace Argentine said: “My target was to finish and gain more experience and I finished my second race with a point, so that’s a positive. I am now confident for our next race in Buenos Aires.”
Before his home ePrix on 18 February, López will contest his final World Touring Car Championship encounters – for now at least – when he heads to the Losail International Circuit near Doha next week for WTCC DHL Race of Qatar.
