Lada can win in 2015, says former WTCC champion Huff
"We’re probably going to get three weeks of solid testing"
Rob Huff reckons the potential of LADA Sport’s all-new Vesta racer is so great that he is confident the Russian make can win again in the 2015 FIA World Touring Car Championship.
Huff, WTCC champion in 2012, claimed a brace of wins in LADA’s outgoing Granta 1.6T last season. And he expects more of the same when the Vesta takes to the track in 2015.
“We can win races,” said the Briton. “We know straight out of the box the car we’ve got for this year will be quicker than what we finished with last year 100 per cent. Ultimately we’re going to have to wait and see, but we’re probably going to get three weeks of solid testing before we get to the first race, which is three weeks of solid testing more than we managed last year. If we can get to the first race with a small understanding of the car and a base set-up, then we can rock and roll from there.”
Huff will be one of three LADA Sport drivers on the grid for the opening round of 2015, the WTCC Race of Argentina from 6-8 March. Team-mates Mikhail Kozlovskiy, from Russia, and British driver James Thompson will also be in action.
