LADA’s WTCC fast show
"Fastest lap in the Main Race was nice"
LADA Sport Rosneft made it not one but two fastest laps when the FIA World Touring Car Championship visited Morocco last week.
Hugo Valente completed the quickest tour in the Opening Race to earn the TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy for the fastest lap of the day, before Gabriele Tarquini set the pace in the Main Race in his identical Vesta.
Afterwards, LADA’s experienced Italian Tarquini said: “Fastest lap in the Main Race was nice but really I would have liked to have more points. The car was very fast for sure, so it was disappointing not to have better race finishes, but this was really a result of not qualifying well.”
Valente set his best lap in the Opening Race after serving a drive-through penalty for nudging James Thompson out of the lead.
“I was able to show the speed I had and get fastest lap but it’s not a race win that I could have had,” said the Frenchman.
