Trident Racing is proud to announce that Johnny Cecotto has become their official driver for the 2010 GP2 Series season.

Son of motorbike world champion and racing driver Johnny Alberto Cecotto, Johnny Cecotto has already debuted with the Italian squad in Abu Dhabi last November during the opening round of the third GP2 Asia Series.

“I’m really proud to have Johnny Cecotto in the team” said Maurizio Salvadori. “He’s very young but also extremely talented. We already worked together and we both appreciated our collaboration, so I’m looking forward to the 2010 season. I’m pretty confident that we’ll be able to show our full potential, thanks also to Johnny’s support.”

Johnny Cecotto: “I’m extremely happy to be back into the GP2 paddock with Trident Racing, as I have already worked with them with good results too. The upcoming season will be really demanding yet decisive for me, and I will do all I can to get the best possible results with the whole team.”

Talks are currently undergoing to fill the team’s second seat, and Adrian Zaugg is among the main candidates. The South African is set to be run with Trident this week in Le Castellet during the Series collective three-day tests.
