James Thompson withdrawn from Hungarian WTCC round
WTCC racing will have to wait for Thompson
LADA Sport Rosneft driver James Thompson will be absent when rounds five and six of the FIA World Touring Car Championship take place at the Hungaroring on Sunday.
Thompson had been due to start from 14th on the grid for the first MOL Group WTCC Race of Hungary in his Vesta TC1, but complications arising from recent dental treatment, means that he isn’t in a fit state to drive – much to his regret.
“I’m disappointed not to be in the car, but I wasn’t feeling great today and the doctors advised that it was best that I shouldn’t drive tomorrow,” said the Briton.
Thompson, who has more than 100 WTCC starts to his name, will miss his first event since LADA returned to full-time competition at the end of 2012. He was a points-scorer on the last round of the WTCC in Morocco, where he finished seventh in race two.
