Honda Racing officially launched their WTCC programme during a press conference held today at the Suzuka International Circuit.
In front of a large audience that included all the media representatives accredited for this weekend’s WTCC race meeting and a number of guests, Hideo Sato, General Manager of Honda Motor Sport Division, Daisuke Horiuchi, chief engineer for the development of the Civic WTCC car, Alessandro Mariani, team principal of Honda Racng Team JAS and the driver Tiago Monteiro, addressed themselves to the floor and answered questions.
“Our goal is clear: fighting for the World Championship from next year. We haven’t fixed any goal for these three participations in the current season, but our priority is to use these race meetings to develop the car for next year,” stated Hideo Sato.
And Mariani echoed: “It is very important to measure ourselves against the competitors at real race meetings. We are very curious to see where we are compared to the others. And especially to the Chevrolet cars.”
