Filippi: Coronel and Thompson are good WTCC targets
"I am not fighting with the same weapon"
John Filippi says strong performances by Tom Coronel and James Thompson are helping his FIA World Touring Car Championship progression.
The WTCC’s youngest pole sitter is trying to capitalise on the pace shown by his fellow Chevrolet RML Cruze drivers by following their example.
“I am not fighting with the same weapon as the other guys because my car was not improving since last year,” said the 21-year-old Corsican. “For me my goal is to be in front of the other Chevrolet drivers and it’s a good goal because there is Tom and James who are very good and professional drivers and I am happy to fight with them.”
The Campos Racing-run Filippi is P15 in the overall standings and fourth in the WTCC Trophy heading to the Big One, WTCC Race of Germany at the Nürburgring Nordschleife from 26-28 May.
